Some are indeed items that our babies may not need (as our mothers often remind us!), but here is a perfect example of something you need with a little extra pizazz. i know a mom :: What inspired you to start Little Pharo?  

monica :: I have always loved Egyptian cotton because of its unmatched softness and durability. So, when I discovered (with great joy!) that I was pregnant, I began my search for the softest little layette I could get my hands on. What I discovered, to my great dismay, was that you can find Egyptian cotton sheets and towels in abundance, but not layettes. And what more important place would you want something soft, than against your newborn baby’s skin?  

i know a mom :: Did you run into any obstacles when starting out? How did you overcome?  

monica :: The biggest challenge was definitely my quest to find the perfect fabric. This required multiple trips to Egypt and countless meetings just to ensure that we were getting the very best Egyptian cotton. We discovered that Egyptian cotton comes in both long staple and extra-long staple varieties. And, although extra-long staple Egyptian cotton is extremely scarce (and thus, much more expensive), we decided not to settle for anything but the very best. Perseverance is the best way to overcome an obstacle, and thanks to sheer determination and hard work, I am proud to say that our entire collection is made from 100% extra-long staple Egyptian Cotton.  

i know a mom :: What was the best piece of advice you received when starting your business?  

monica :: There is a saying that there are no shortcuts to life’s greatest achievements. You have to be willing to work hard, and do what it takes to get to where you want to be. I am fortunate to have a supportive husband and family who pushed me to do and be the best that I possibly could through this long journey of starting a business.  

i know a mom :: What has been the best part about owning your own business?  

monica :: There are so many great aspects – the creativity of designing the collection, the realization that I have what it takes to overcome whatever obstacles come my way, and perhaps best of all – seeing my son wear Little Pharo!  

i know a mom :: What is next for Little Pharo?  

monica :: Several retailers have expressed an interest in carrying Little Pharo’s collection (which is currently only available online), so we are considering those opportunities. monica :: At the end of a long day, there is nothing I enjoy more than cuddling up with my husband and son – the two greatest blessings in my life.
