containers and jars can be reused to organize art supplies. Thanks for a spectacular giveaway! katebeth45ATgmailDOTcom

What an AMAZING giveaway! This would be a great way to help me become more green. THANKS! twodarlingdaughtersATgmailDOTcom
My best tip is to reuse one reusable water bottle instead of buying and throwing away a new one all the time.

Thanks bringing my attention to the upcoming earth day. I love the water bottle and the bag. Idea for an activity with your kids: Take some of your recycling and make something useful. My daughter and I are using a granola bar box (Costco size), decorating it w/ pictures from magazines, catalogs, etc. and turning it into a backpack for school on earth day. It’s a fun way to show your children how to reuse and recycle.

Use reusable grocery bags at the store!

“WOW!” You are so right about living on another planet if one hasn’t read about going green! Sometimes, I feel overwhelmed by it all. I keep telling
myself, one baby step at a time. We have made the most changes in our home. Whether it is the thermostat, shorter showers, keeping the sun out with our drapes and shades, etc. Another major switch we have made is not using the plastic water bottles. All of us are using reusable water containers. Thanks for sponsoring such a wonderful drawing contest! Thanks,Cindi
jchoppes[at]hotmail[dot]com

One of my new favorite tips is how to recycle all those free goft makeup bags you probably have stashed in the bathroom— use them in the diaper bag to hold small items! Some are even lined and could hold snacks if washed properly. Cute AND functional as well as saving the planet…no more plastic baggies for me!

I agree, it can be overwhelming sometimes especially if you compare your “greeness” to others. I am trying to stay focused on recycling and carpooling.

What cute green stuff!!! My green tip is to check your sunscreen and beauty products for toxicity levels on the skindeep database at http://www.ewg.org

Our family will be bringing containers from home for leftover resturant food. We are trying cloth diapers instead of disposables. A little extra work, but as they say, The best way to impact our planet is to not do things to impact our planet! This give-a-way comes at a perfect time! My daughter and I just got back from a shopping excursion. She is about to pop! Due date is very soon! I was’nt able to help them as much as I would have liked. What a wonderful way for Lily to begin her life green! We actually saw some of the items featured. Well, either way…we will continue to do our part!

great great great! we use cloth diapers and wipes, and we make blocks out of our old milk cartons – you can add dry pasta inside some to make instruments as well.

I would love to win this for myself and my new little one!

I reuse wipes boxes for crayons, hair clips and art supplies!

What an awesome giveaway! My best tips are to use reusable shopping bags and to walk/bike to nearby locations. Thanks! afsk003ATgmailDOTcom

We use cloth diapers and wipes at home & soon on the go…I need to work up to that one.

mcginnisfamily5(at)gmail(dot)com

What a great giveaway! So many fun prizes. We’re trying to go green by obtaining as much previously used baby gear as we can, and we’re planning on using cloth diapers.

Use public transportation!
Great giveaway.

We have just committed to buy all environmentally-friendly cleaning products. We are also trying to reuse whatever we can–yogurt containers make good Tupperware, and have just bought water bottles for ourselves.

Yeah, Green!

Oh, this is such a great giveaway!
My tip is from a neighbor who has been gathering empty cereal boxes to build a play house for her kids. I think it’s a great idea!
(jeepcutie82(at)msn(dot)com)

compost! eat locally-sourced! walk!

One of my favorite green tips is to use baking soda to eliminate odors, scour, get rid of dried on food, etc. instead of harsh and toxic chemicals. Also, it’s great for cleaning out drains when mixed with vinegar

An Eco-WOW!!! Luckily, we live on planet earth or we wouldn’t be able to enter the giveaway! There are lots of ways to contribute going green into your lifestyle- perhaps one of the easiest ways is to launder your clothes in cold water only and line dry them. A few others- Reuse old tissue boxes to store plastic bags- use cloth grocery totes…cloth diapers and wipes to cut back on waste entering the landfills. Make your own baby food – and buy organic whenever possible. I would love to win these eco-fabulous items you’ve gathered. They would be perfect for my son who was incidently born on Earth Day- he’ll be a year old!!! We could use the other items for an upcoming shower we’re attending!!! :) thanx. Happy Earth Day!!! lamamanaturale@gmail.com

would love to win :)
we recycle our soda cans

Thanks for all the great green resources!! What an awesome giveaway!!

What a great giveaway! My tips are 1) reusable grocery bags are huge must do. Have you ever paid attention to how many bags build up otherwise? Eeek! and 2) you really don’t need any chemical cleaners in the house. There are alternatives for pretty much every purpose, readily available now and not overly expensive. There’s just no reason not to use them!

wiredalive at hotmail dot com

Purchase a carbon offset. Its not that expensive. Happy Earth Day! Great giveaway, thanks so much!

1. refill printer ink cartridges instead of throwing them away and replacing them with new ones (better for the earth and the pocketbook!)
2. washcloths make better wipes for diaper changes because they work better, don’t have chemicals with excitotoxins and abrasive bleach, and they’re cheaper and better for the earth
3. We use rechargable batteries for numerous household items.

I would love to win this prize!!! We use cloth diapers, wipes, and napkins. Also rags for cleaning (old diapers) instead of paper towels. We bring cloth bags to go shopping. We use reusealbe water bottles – Kleen Kanteens. We don’t drive, we use public transport. We don’t buy junky plastic toys. We buy used clothes ,. . .
paulinanpdx@hotmail.com

Eat veggie and organic.

profjeffmcl[at]yahoo.com

My green tip, recycle, recycle, recycle!! Re-use your paper grocery bags.
Thanks for the great give away!

We always use reusable grocery bags at the store, much less waste!

WOW…What a giveaway! Crazy! My best tip would be to use your own grocery bags, recycle, and reuse little things around the house! Thanks so much!
stbaisch[at]yahoo[dot]com

You can use a bucket to catch water as you’re waiting for the bath or shower to warm up. This water can be used to water plants, mop, etc.

Thanks for the opportunity!
bcsbethany at yahoo dot com

Right now, I’m reading Gorgeously Green by Sophie Uliano and learning all of the horrors of not being green. :)

Wow… that is a whole lotta stuff!

My best tip is to give and receive hand me downs! And of course use reusable grocery bags.
taradawnrobertson at hotmail dot com

We try to stay focused by adding one or two new green ideas each month to our routine. Our newest is using recycled plastic garbage bags. It’s a small step, but it’ll all begins with little changes.
jamiekampf@yahoo.com

A great giveaway! My green tip is to think reusable – every time I reach for a ziploc for a takealong snack in the diaper bag, I see if I have a reusable container that would work instead.

What a great giveaway! We get our milk delivered from a local dairy – it’s organic, local (less shipping means less CO2) and in glass bottles that they recycle. We also do a CSA – community supported agriculture – see if there’s one near you!
artsweets@ gmail dot com

We try to do lots of little things: wash clothes in cold water, use dryer balls to shorten drying times, using compact fluorescents in all our light fixtures.

Also, I do most of my children’s clothing shopping in consignment stores, and my husband reuses old reports from his business as our printer paper and drawing paper for our girls.

What a great giveaway. Thank you so much for offering this. It’s so great to see all these companies making everyone more aware of becoming “green”. Not only for our generation, but for our children and their children.
My family and I are trying to be more aware and become more green. We now use cloth bags for grocery shopping. We recently changed all our bulbs to energy efficient and we make sure to turn off lights and just be more aware of whatever we can do to help out.
Thanks again.

Thanks for a great giveaway! My tip would be to support local farmers! You can shop at your local farmers’ market or other establishments that sell local products. There’s no better way to put your “green” into your community than buying local goods. We can’t forget our farmers…they feed all of us!
oneliteratimommy@yahoo.com

This is a great giveaway! I try to do all I can to recycle, reduce, reuse, especially with a 3 week old baby. We are doing cloth diapers, breastfeeding, and natural detergents and cleaners (like baking soda). For years I’ve also kept cloth bags in my trunk to take with me while shopping.

This a great giveaway–thanks! I try to buy more and more things that are used, especially clothing. We also grow a garden in the summer and freeze many things to use in the winter, like tomatoes for tomato sauce, green peppers, etc. We recycle everything we can, and also have a compost pile for leftover scraps. I have read so many great ideas here and am so inspired to continue the quest to Go Green!

I’m drooling, which may be good for the encironment.

Ooh awesome giveaway!! My “green” tip is to compost. It’s so much easier than I ever thought it would be, and it has cut WAY down on my garbage, which means less plastic garbage bags!

dianna_ball(at)hotmail.com

Wow! Great giveaway.
We recycle paper, plastic, cans, etc.
We give old clothing/toys to the homeless shelter.
I use canvas bags for groceries.
digicat@sbcglobal.net

I highly recommend buying local organic produce- it tastes fresher because usually it was just picked!

We’ve been working on “greening” our household. Fingers crossed!
Stephanie V.

This is some amazing products!

Use reusable water bottles instead of throwing away plastic bottles. Use reusable bags at the grocery stores as well.

Can’t wait to learn some more tips.

Sigg & Thesis make great bottles so you can stop buying plastic!

I recently began taking my own storage containers when we go out to eat. I sometimes get funny looks when I start putting our leftovers into them, but the fact that I’m not using all those nasty foam products makes it worth it.

I reuse plastic grocery bags for tote bags and garbage bags.

My green tip: Use cloth diapers!

What a great giveaway! Thank you!! We try to make all of our own bread & baked goods/treats — cuts down on packaging – so less stuff in the landfills!

We have a one cup a day rule. It cuts down on dishwasher space. Thanks for the great giveaway!!

Terrific giveaway! I’m a big re-user. In our house we always use tupperware, not ziplocs. We save our food containers and re-use those for leftovers. And we always use re-usable totes instead of getting plastic grocery sacks.

Thanks!
-Carrie H.

Happy Earth day!, I have a new Grandbaby and have shared many of the “natural” ways I took care of my babies with my daughter (which was her), from cloth diapers; which are much easier today to use; to making my own baby food. My best tip, would be to buy a baby food mill for making baby food. I bought one for my daughter called Kidco, they have a manual one and an electric one. Then cook ahead, and store the baby food in ice cube trays, or grind up what your cooking for dinner. Babies love it and you can control what they eat, and they get use to eating what the whole family is eating. The manual grinder can even be taken to Grandmothers house. I love all the new “Green” products available for our earth and for my new Grandbaby. Please enter me in your Amazing Giveaway.

What a great giveaway and cool site! Being green is easy if you follow the three R’s: reduce, reuse, recycle. The first is easy, but the second is my favorite I love coming up with ways to reuse objects. If you’re a knitter like myself, you can take old plastic bags and actually knit a reuseable tote for groceries or just as a cool handbag. Also, I always hold on to plastic containers from chinese food, butter, etc, and reuse them. However they don’t stand the test of time, but don’t throw them out yet! These are great to start seeds in. The containers keep the humidity in and then you can transfer the seedlings to pots and have a great organic garden.

reinharn85@yahoo.com

this is great! my tip is to start taking navy showers if you want to cut back on water. basically you wet your body and then turn off the water. then you soap up and lather your hair. then turn on the water to rinse and turn it off!

amiramurphy at gmail dot com

I’ve been taking reusable bags to the grocery store. But I’m sure everyones heard that one already!

Cloth diapers all the way! The pocket diapers today are easy, conveinient, and look good. We use BumGenius!

Just the basic things like recycle your soda cans, bring your own cloth tote bag when shopping, etc. Every little thing makes a difference!

i reuse clothes–buy almost everything at consignment

What a great giveaway! I am “green” with envy! My tip would be to put a brick in your toilet tank. You will use less water with each flush.

johannahill26@hotmail.com

i buy used clothing and other items on ebay, i use reusuable totes for groceries. I am also a member of a food co-op. Also check out freecycle.org – a free way to recycle large items like furniture locally rather then throwing it out.

I blogged about this type of thing on my blog at http://uniquelyyoursbyshay.blogspot.com/2008/03/skeeda.html I’m always trying to become more green I recycle just about everything.

I always try to recycle as much stuff as possible, I give my kids old clothes to their cousins or sell it on e-bay or craigslist. Most years I have a garage sale to get rid of things I can’t use anymore and whatever is left over afterwards gets donated to Salvation Army. I’d rather give things away than throw them away.

We teach our daughter to turn the water off when she brushes her teeth. No use wasting the water while the toothbrush is in the mouth.

scblog at hotmail dot com

go green!

This has got to be the most AMAZING giveaway that I have ever seen! The fact that so many people have been rallying around the idea of making our lives “greener” really warms my heart! Here is a green tip for anyone interested — we make our own fabric softner for the washing machine, and we can add any scent we like to it! You can make a lot of it very inexpensively and it makes your clothes unbelievably soft! Search for “make your own fabric softener” to find lots of recipes!

I use cloth diapers as well as cloth wipes with my baby. Its not as difficult as people would think and I love the look of the cute diaper as opposed to a disposable diaper.

I can’t believe these great prizes! Thanks so much!
hellerfam(at)yahoo(dot)com

I think it’s important for people not to be overwhelmed by all the thing we can do to be “green”. If you’re one who is not used to thinking about making environmentally friendly changes, take baby steps and do a little at a time. A small gesture is better than doing nothing.

Use a reusable water bottle and reusable bags at the grocery store! Easy and really helpful things! Thanks!

Awesome giveaway! I’ve learned to unplug chargers when they’re not in use so they don’t keep draining electricity.

jg AT jennaglatzer.com

Another tip: when your husband’s ready to clear out his closet, retrofit his clothing to make cute duds for the kids…often in patterns you wouldn’t think of, especially for little girls.

it’s very hard to decide what i love the best. but i will say i love your infant items.

keep a few bags in your car so when you shop you don’t need store bags and when you don’t need something freecycle it, even if you think no one would want it

I use Freecycle for all my discarded items. I also recycle paper and plastic and cans. And I use the new light bulbs.
allmycrazycats@aol.com

Great giveaway! I use reusable shopping totes when shopping so they won’t have to waste on paper or plastic. Thanks!

My favorite green tip is really try and not use plastic bottles or disposable diapers!

palmersf(at)comcast(dot)net

I snazzed up my reusable grocery bags with some beading…didn’t want to be green and boring at the same time! Also, instead of buying 50 million spring water bottles, invest in a water cooler for your home, fresh spring water without all the plastic waste…

we have started using glass bowls and cups, instead of plastic. i’ve cut down to only doing laundry on weekends and using laundry tabs instead of bottle detergent. we use soap thats phosphate free.
bwalleshauser AT yahoo DOT com

what a great giveaway. Plant a garden and eat what grows, and always compost. It’s so easy.

This is great, what a wonderful prize!

Drop off items like old televisions and computers at special recycling centers instead of throwing them out so that the toxic chemicals inside of them, like lead and mercury, won’t seep into the ground. Thanks.
jnl930@yahoo.com

Almost everything can be recycled,
just think to DO it.

This is a great giveaway

What a great idea, the best way to start is with the baby. Reusing/recycling is one of the best things we can do!

Oh my goodness, this is such an amazing giveaway!! My newest venture in being green is…encouraging my husband to recycle! I use anything reusable that I can, buy organic, save electricity and fuel as much as possible, now if I can just get him to put some things in the recycleable bin! :) Thanks so much!

My plan to go green, and save money, is to make my son some baby clothes out of old t-shirts.
momabr@yahoo.com

I want mine in green!

We like to vegetable garden and can our produce.

This is an amazing giveaway and if I win, I am going to give it to a dear friend of mine who recently had a baby!

Recycle, reuse, reduce!

Happy Green Day!

I am doing my best to recycle, discontinue catalogs, use a Brita filter instead of bottled water, reuse plastic bags, etc. I hope every little bit helps…

hianded[at]earthlink[dot]net

i’m new to the green cleaning products. i noticed i was always sick after cleaning (sore throat, sinus problems) and after i started using more “environmentally safe” cleaners, i haven’t been sick. great giveaway!

What great green items! A green tip I use is reusable grocery bags at the store.

I would love to win! Recycle your junk mail!! So much paper is wasted by companies sending it out. Do your part and recycle it! Don’t throw it away.

No disposable anything- diapers, napkins, paper towels, razors.

Much cheaer to use things over and over.

Thanks@

The biggest change I have made this year is installing a water purification system in my house. I know use a SIGG bottle instead of buying loads of Fiji water! Over time, the money I have saved from buying bottled water will pay for the purifier!

krisindam@mac.com

Awesome website and great giveaway!

One way we’re trying to go green is to stop driving everywhere and walk/ride bikes when possible.

I like using CraigsList or FreeCycle to get rid of old or unwanted electronics and appliances.

OMG! What a great giveaway. We’ve gone so green in our home these last few years (changing light bulbs, we drive a Prius, use dishtowels instead of paper napkins, running full washers after 8pm at night, keeping our vacations localetc), but we are still trying to improve. Thanks to all for the tips!

Thanks for the contest! We’ve started buying glass, paper or other packaging versus plastic and making special trips to the recyling center since our town doesn’t pick the recycling up.

What a great giveaway and all these fabulous green products! My best green tip since having kids is to give modern cloth diapering a try! They are no longer the pins and cloth but lots of fun patterns, velcro and stay-dry fabrics!

My husband and I recycle, reuse, composte, etc. This would be great for our daughter who is due next month. maybe it will jusmpstart her in environmental issues

Anything at all! Just kidding! We recycle and I work from home, so it cuts down on the gas! Thanks!

bucbratt at hotmail dot com

Our house rules are reuse, recycle, less electricity, avoid plastics, natural is better.

we have always shopped at garage sales for things for ourselves, kids and grandkids. We are trying to be more aware of the little things that we can do and carry our own bags to the store, have put in energy efficient lights, etc.

I make my own cleaner Vinegar and water and sometimes I use baking soda and Lemon. I also reuse the container.

switch from paper bills to online bills, including saying no to atm receipts. save paper!

wonderful stuff!!!

Besides the usual stuff, I like to teach my kids how important it is to take care of the planet God has blessed us with. Since they love Polar Bears, we use it as a reminder phrase whenever they are running the water too long or not turning off the lights when they leave a room. We just say “polar bears.” And they know that they can do their part to conserve energy and maybe even help save a polar bear.

We recycle, bring our own cups for take out coffee, TRY to remember to use our reusable grocery bags.
This is a wonderful contest and I would like to win and give as a gift. TO a mom-to-be in my hometown who is on hard times.

Buying a Brita Water pitcher or water filter keeps thousands of water bottles out of landfills each year! :D We just got one. I think the water tastes thousands times better than bottled water!

Wow! Great giveaway… We reuse as much as possible to be kind to the earth. We always check Craigslist or Freecycle before buying new!

My favorite green tip is to buy local and boycott China until they stop their reprehensible polluting! They are back in 1880 eco-minds!

The best way to learn to be green is to talk to our family members who lived during the depression. They know how to make something out of nothing and still have a grateful attitude.

Thanks, Martha W

Holy macarolly, this is an awesome giveaway! My green tip is to use a refillable bottle like the SIGG bottles instead of so many plastic water bottles!

srentzjones(at)gmail(dot)com

My tip? Be thrifty and green!

Most people give up on being eco friendly because they feel that they have to spend entirely too much money to start! Using Vinegar and Baking soda for most of your cleaning needs saves money AND time. Baking your own bread insures that you know EXACTLY what is going into your children’s bodies. Buying cloth diapers saves you hundreds over the long term with infants, they can be reused for subsequent kids and with the new tech in diapers today, is nearly as easy as disposibles!

Buying these things in bulk saves TONS of money so you can put your budget to other things, like organic clothing, and biodiesel and hybrid vehicles, and living debt free!

Always recycle!

This is a great giveaway! I’ve just started using reusable grocery bags and buying into a farm coop. We also have a RO system in our house so that we can trust our water and not have to buy bottled water.

This would be absolutely for my boss who is a brand new eco-mom! We are “Green-Collered” and to reduce our carbon foot print, she figured out how to enable me to work from home. She so deserve this. great bunch of stuff

Start a local veggie garden.

dharmapunx13@hotmail.com

GREAT giveaway! I think we can all do a little more to help keep our earth better!

This IS a great giveaway! We try to do our part by using cloth diapers and washclothes instead of all that disposable stuff! :)

We recycle as much as possible, reuse containers a lot and reduce our waste. My daughter has her friends over for neighborhood clean up days where they pick up all the trash. Earth day is a BIG day around here.

What awesome products!
One way to recycle is a classic way. Save up your aluminum cans and turn them in for cash.
partymix25(at)hotmail(dot)com

Recycle everything you can. There’s probably more that you can be recycling than you think. Re-using is even better. Instead of recycling old magazines, I keep a canvas tote bag in our bedroom behind the door. I put the magazines in there and I grab the bag when I go somewhere where I can leave them (The laundry mat, Doctor’s Office, Used Bookstore at the library…).

Just remember to cut off your address. Plastic bags cannot be recycled curbside here, but many stores will take them and have collection bins for them. I like most people say I use them for everything, but after giving it more thought, I realized I use them to collect trash and then stick the half full bags into a larger trash bag.

Junk mail can also be recycled. Shred first if you’re worried about security. I have heard some places cannot recycle the little plastic windows in the envelopes though, so it’s best to check beforehand.

I hang my wash outside to dry

thank you for recycling

This is an amazing giveaway!! We’ve been going green before it was “cool” to go green :) We recycle, compost, eat vegetarian, use cloth grocery bags, cloth diaper, i use cloth pads, buy cruelty free products, the list goes on..!!

I love garage sales. It’s the best recycling out there!

amazing prize! my best tip for right now is to simply walk more, it’s fun and feels great. for longer trips take the bus or ride a bike. it becomes habitual very quickly and you may find yourself driving very infrequently. for work you might consider carpooling, it’s a nice way to start the day. driving less is also less stressful. i am w.eberly@yahoo.com

Little things definitely add up; always wash clothes in cold water, push the thermostat up a degree or two (it’s warm here in Florida – but we can survive!) and kick the plastic water bottle habit. Thanks for a great opportunity to win!

What a great set of gifts! My number 1 thing to do is remember to carry reusable bags when shopping. Not just to the grocery store, but wherever you’re shopping.

reuse contaniners for toy storage and also take my own bag to the grocery store for short trips

so many great tips! one easy thing we did was to plug a lot of our appliances into power strips. Any of those instant-on items or anything with a clock on it still uses power even when it is “off” (like the tv or microwave). By cutting the power at the power strip you save energy and MONEY!
elkesten[at]yahoo[dot]com

I am a CPA and I have gone to a paperless office. No more 10 cases of paper each tax season. Loved reading all the great ideas.

I also have started to use the canvas bags for the grocery store. The hold more per bag than the plastic and there is no waste. Thank you for having this giveaway.

This contest is awesome, and so are all the helpful green hints everyone’s posting. I donate old clothes to Goodwill, and use old socks, etc. as dust rags. Coffee grounds are great plant fertilizer, and cardboard (regular, or from food, such as cereal or eggs)can be turned into really fun art projects for kids!
veggiethree@hotmail.com

We don’t use any paper products in our house. We bring our own totes to the grocery store. We shop at small stores and are members of a CSA.

And most importantly, we eat low on the food chain.

Wow! What a fun giveaway!

cool contest!
To keep green, my house recycles all we can and has monthly green meetings in our neighborhood

I actually know 2 new, 1st time Mom’s (daughter and daughter-in-law) who would love this prize. Thanks! *S*

My green tip?

- Turn off the TV; watch one less show a week. You’ll find that this is more than just a green tip, but a great way to bond with your family.
- Walk or bike for your next trip that is under 2 miles. It may seem far, but it will go so quickly!

i know a mom who would love this

We have reused old shirts, and burp rags as “boogie rags”. We also visit our local goodwill to stock up on cloth napkins. We buy recycled toilet paper and paper towels, slowing down our dependency on paper products. It has cut costs and is great to see my kids offering to make their friends their own “boogie rags”

Try to give usable household stuff away rather than putting them in the trash.

What an amazing giveaway. Someone will be very lucky to win this (hopefully me)!

candykorn1231 (at) aol (dot) com

Happy Earth Day! Thanks for the giveaway!

I’m an obsessive-compulsive recycler. Everything (just about) goes into the green bin. I recycle coffee grounds and fruit/veggie pulp from my juicer into the compost bin.

Great prize! Gee, I guess that our family has been taking care of the planet since the ’70′s, and that’s because we had no money! We always ate leftovers, had our own garden, bought the kids play clothes at the thrift shop, friends loaned each other maternity and baby clothes.Having to be frugal when you’re broke forces you to think twice about where your money goes, and to appreciate all that comes your way. Today, we are even more aware and try to recycle everything that we can.

The onesis are so adorable.
Please enter me.
thank you

The kids love to be green too! They can make toys or craft projects with bottles, cereal boxes, egg cartons, whatever! They are so imaginative. And instead of throwing away their old toys, take them down to a local church or charity.

We love reusable shopping bags and non toxic cleaners!
dansan826 at yahoo.com

Nice. we need more organic prizes.

wonderful giveaway.

I would love to win this for my friend. We recycle cans and bottles, we’re lucky, our town picks them up monthly at the curb which helps a lot. We also reuse grocery bags and plastic containers from stores and restaurants. The plastic containers from Chinese restaurants make great leftover containers.

Eliminating paper towels, paper napkins, and tissues saves so much, and it’s really easy. Buy inexpensive bar towels for napkins, use old t-shirts for rags, and treat yourself to pretty handkerchiefs.

I utilize thrift stores and donate as much as I can of used clothing and household goods to needy charities.

I recycle at our city center and eat organic. What a wonderful earth friendly prize!

I’m trying to increase my “one step at a time” greening. I already recycle, re-use, and have reduced what I buy. I’m now working on green cleaning products.

onlycancan at hotmail dot com

one way I conserve water is when Im in the shower I turn the water off while Im conditioning my hair. It saves a few minutes water that isnt wasted. I only wash clothes on nice windy days that way I can hang them on the line and save energy and whenever possible I open windows so I do not have to use my A/C

Goodness Gracious! I’ve Gotta Get me entered in this Green Giveaway. Gracias!

Wow – what a fantastic giveaway. Thank you for reminding people about going green and especially about Earth Day. I’ve been green for quite awhile now and it’s become habit. I try very hard to recycle whatever I can, bring my own tote bag, pick up litter when I see it, frequent businesses who are green and grow my own veggies. My son saw someone throwing trash down in the parking lot of the mall and he politely told the man, “Please don’t pollute my earth!” The man’s mouth dropped but he did pick his trash up. So it looks like it’s automatic for my son too.

You’ve got to be kidding! This giveaway is HUGE!! I have been hearing a lot about going green, but don’t know much about it, other than living in earthy Seattle. :) I recycle, use energy efficient products, and buy organic produce…but I don’t know much more than that. I’m going to read through your tips!! THANK YOU!

Less is more. I buy more things I can reuse again.

Recycle, recycle, recycle. It is the easiest way to start going green! Use the energy saving lightbulbs!

In our house we make a game of seeing how much we can recyle. We have a compost bin, use reusable shopping bags, use reusable water bottles and use cloth napkins among other things. We also shop thrift stores and yard sale because to us, that is the ultimte way of recycling!

I’m definately going to check out those pacifiers!!! Thanks for posting that!
kvonrotz@earthlink.net

We try to not use disposable items unless it’s unavoidable. Recycling is also important to us so we don’t contribute to the trash in the landfills.

I would so love to win this for my BF. She is expecting another godchild!!!! My family is learning to go green, slowly but surely. Right now, we are working on recycling and saving energy. So far, so good!!!!

What a great website/blog. I just discovered it and will try to give you a link from Kiwimagonline.com

My green tip for the month? I am a sahm but I also wahm 20 hours/week but I decided I am going to be fully present with my daughter at home. No more email, television or distractions. When I work, I work. When I am with her, I am with her. Mommy unplugged.

Great tips everyone! I plug things into power strips and shut off the strip when I’m not using them. Saves a lot of ‘stand by’ electricity! Especially the entertainment center. Thanks for the giveaway!

I recycle whatever I can at the curb. The rest of the stuff gets collected and taken to a recycling center downtown. Even though they don’t recycle all plastics, it still makes me feel good that I am able to take most of my cardboard and mixed paper to be recycled.

recycle and reuse

I am loving the GREEN wave! My best tip is skipping grocery bags and bring your own!! I know it’s nothing new but it’s a great one!

Thank You
Beth

What a great giveaway! I am just starting to “go green”. My first plan is to buy some reusable grocery bags/sacks so I don’t have to use those plastic ones the markets have! Hate those!

Great for my Grandson!

This is an amazing giveaway. Great items–I want them all! And I’m feeling a little shocked–I never considered pacifiers and what kind of plastic they use. My son is addicted to his, and now I have to go do some research. So I’m thankful just for that little item.

Happy Earth Day! We’re going to celebrate by finally buying some reusable grocery bags. I’ve put it off long enough.

nice

Happy Earth Day!

Thanks for the chance!

I have really been trying to throw away less and find other ways to use things or find someone else who may be able to use them. Freecycle has been such a help for that. I know that even though I don’t need something anymore, someone else might and it won’t end up in a landfill. Building doll houses out of cardboard boxes with my toddler has been fun as well as showing her that things can have a longer life than just for something like holding cereal. Then we recycle them and my older son really sees what an important role he can play in the process as well.
welshjd@student.gvsu.edu

This is a great giveaway! My eco-tip is using cloth diapers. With four kids, that’s a lot of diapers I haven’t thrown away.

Use cloth napkins! They’re cute and don’t produce waste for our landfills.

Shop with reusable shopping bags.

Thanks for such a great giveaway!

Are you kidding me!? what a fantastic giveaway–I want so badly. Oh please, oh please.

The simplest green tip–take your own bags to the grocery store. My store gives back 5 cents for every cloth bag I use-adds up. I can fit so much more in reusable bags so it’s so much easier to carry in groceries too.

Cloth diapers have really come a long way since our mothers had to use them!
And this is a great time to plant something with your family so the little ones can learn about caring for something and help to improve the earth.

I like to dry clothes on the clothes line – saves money too!

wonderful giveaway! My best tip is resusing those sour cream/ cottage cheese containers as travel dog food containers. They work great!

What a great giveaway!! Happy Earth Day!

don’t use anti-bacterial dish soap. it does very little for your dishes and depletes the positive bacteria supply in the water system as well as helping the negative bacteria mutate to the point where anti-bacterial products will not kill them.

if you are worried about germs on your hand, get some anti-bacterial gel which doesn’t require water…

I especially like “save what’s left” – sad but true!

We’re working hard on our community garden plot, getting ready for another growing season. I love the community building part as much as the vegetable growing! We donate the produce we don’t use to our local food bank through a great program called Squash Hunger. And this year, we’re finally starting composting. We’ve decided on a worm bin in the pantry, since we’re in a 2nd-story apartment.

WoW…what a wonderful contest. We have switched from cleaning with paper towels to using old cloths. On windows I use newspaper instead of paper towels.

Great Giveaway! Go Green!

This is such a great giveaway. I’ve read so many great tips here…thanks to all for some great ideas! As for me I’ve recently switched my light bulbs to energy saving.

Take only what you need! Waste not, want not!

Can I just say I need to win this one?! Our third baby is due in exactly 3 mnths…really want the baby to have some new things that are not just hand me downs and organic would be awesome… a little pricier (but so much nicer) so not quite as affordable for us…I’d love the Mom treats too, the two nice tshirts and the nipple cream…we are just starting to use g diapers in our attempt to be a little greener and have been trying to buy as much organic food as we can, esp the top 12 produce items that otherwise have the highest pesticide rankings… Please pick me!!! chiarascari@gmail.com

It can be overwhelming, but I think the little things most of us try to do, such as bringing totes to the market and using less packaging when possible will make a big difference.

Use a laundry line! Not only do you help to curb carbon emissions, but you save yourself money and your clothes will last longer!

Looks great! I definitely need to be more green!

This is a great giveaway. I am glad to see that so many people are concerned about the Earth.

I have a huge vegetable garden and many fruit trees. I avoid red meats. I have a massive compost pile which I use for my garden.

i have just gotten back on the eco-train after being thet typical wasteful American for the last couple years. This goodies could help keep me on track. Great prize!

My green tip is to think of the world as a constant source of art and craft supplies.
Books like Simply Green Giving teach you how to make beautiful gifts out of things you would normally throw away.
If you want ideas on crafting with candy wrappers or plastic bags, there are craft websites with tutorials on how to turn them into cool tote bags and wallets.
Turn your crap into one of a kind art.

Great contest! I still think simple things like turning off lights when we are not in a room or when we leave the house are important :) Saves energy & money & light bulbs!

what an amazing giveaway! I have to say we are pretty green in this household. Just yesterday we planted organic lettuce and rhubarb using compost from our pile. Now I can’t wait for summer!

What a fab giveaway. I love the water bottle. I never gave into the disposables, so I’m always on the look out for cutie bottles to carry.

We pride ourselves in being a very green household. Of course there’s alway more you can do. Recycling, reusing and reducing are musts! We always bring our own bags to the grocery. This would be a great win for an expectant mom!!!

Please enter me into the contest. Thanks!

What a fantastic giveaway!!! My best tip is to use the reuseable grocery bags. They are great at the store and then we use them when traveling. Also, lots of handmedown clothes. They grow out of things sooo quickly, besides my friends all have fantastic taste too…good to share and a greta lesson to teach our kids early. Thanks for all the earth day thoughts!!

Kids is where change starts! Making little changes and getting the kids involved goes a long way! We have started recycling more and wasting less. We use reusable containers instead of zip lock bags, recycle cans and paper, as well using things that do not have harmful chemicals in the yard/home and on the environment in general!

Green cleaning doesn’t have to be expensive – just use water and white vinegar in a spray bottle to clean almost anything.

I use cloth diapers instead of disposable…while we are at home anyway! =)

We’ve almost been conscious, but this year we’ve been on Green Overload!!! I LOVE IT!!!

I love using the glass containers from candles as storage for food, pens, jewelry or just about anything else!
I also think that we should all have showers like the do here in Japan (where I am currently living) that you can shut off when you are soaping up or washing your hair/face/body. It saves SO MUCH water!
Good luck to everyone on the Giveaway!

What a great giveaway. Use only organic pest contro products and lawn care products.

I’m just learning how to go “GREEN”.

This is such a great giveaway! Going green is something that businesses have been encouraged to do for awhile (with EPA regulations and all), but now that individuals are getting involved it is going to make an even bigger impact on the future for our children and grandchildren! This is a great giveaway – thank you for sponsoring all of the wonderful green goodies!!! :)
